A great way to start off this year with an excellent selection of music – Bairstow’s “Blessed City, Heavenly Salem”, Clucas’ responses, Batten’s “O sing joyfully” with the (evidently not so in demand from music publishers!) Ayleward’s “Short Evening Service”. The hospitality and friendliness was excellent, and Professor Andrew Morrisson was on hand to advise and help, which made all the difference. Capably led by Frikki Walker and accompaniment – including some constrained improvisations – this was a warm, friendly start to the new season, and we were delighted to have three new members out with us for the first time.
Our next outing is just over 1 month away – 26 October in Glasgow University’s Memorial Chapel with Choral Evensong at 4pm. Music will include pieces by Bruckner and Glinka.
